Tawny Cottage Reviews

This is everything you could hope for quiet and peaceful and such a beautiful place to be.
Lovely clean cottage. Location great for driving to Scarborough, Whitby, & Filey. Hot tub was a real luxury
Second visit of the year we will be back but would like accommodation on one level
Michael
Lovely cottage really clean and the hot tub made it a bit more special. We will definitely be back.
Richard
Beautifully presented and well equipped cottage for two people in a peaceful location, but close to Scarborough town centre and a short drive to Whitby and other attractions. The hot tub was a huge bonus and we used it almost every day. We took a taxi into Scarborough on the Saturday Boro Cars, 12 each way but there was parking in the town during the week. Used Whitby Park and Ride as the place was packed. Would highly recommend Tawny Cottage or any of the other cottages at Riggs Head.
Had a beautiful time away for my partners birthday, we loved the area. Was like a home from home
Lovely cottage, beautiful views and placed for Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey and Whitby. We went Friday to Friday and thought the price was very reasonable. Hot Tub was fun. Log burner was lovely we had to buy matches which we found odd as all the other items were there logs, firelighters. Will definitely return. Thanks again xx
Lovely clean and comfortable cottage. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning. Perfect peaceful location with easy access to the coast for some stunning walks.
Millie
Cant recommend Riggs Head Farm enough! Especially Tawny Cottage! We stayed for 4 nights in September and it was amazing. The facilities are brilliant, literally everything you would need and although we didnt need anything else, no doubt it wouldnt have been a problem at all to ask for anything. The cottage itself is gorgeous! Clean, modern, spacious and the bed gave me the best nights sleep Id had in months, so comfy. Perfect for couples. The log burner was lovely as well as it was starting to get a little bit chilly. Hot tub was 100 a bonus as well. Lots of nice restaurants, pubs, walks, shops etc nearby and theres even a book with some suggestions if youre stuck! We will 100 be back soon for another amazing holiday
Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Comfortable and very clean. All you could need is provided. Close to amenities and other resorts. Lovely hot tub ! I would totally recommend this property and would visit again.
Sophie

Great place for a break excellent hosts and setting just right the hot tub is a very good option after being out all day only slight gripe the sofa is not the most comfortable but you don't go to a place like this to sit inside overall excellent and we will be returning
Nice location. Very well laid out cottage. Hot tube was lovely. Sofa wasn't very comfortable.
Very enjoyable stay. Lovely landscaping and nicely decorated and presented. We could have done with some scissors and a few more glasses and cutlery. A Coffee machine and welcome pack of coffee pods, milk and biscuits would have been nice too. The cottage was very snug and warm even without the heating on the bathroom was surprisingly chilly though.
Angela
Sofa wasnt very comfy l but the bed was ! ! Lovely cottage, just right for two
Meliss
Such a great holiday home, absolutely loved the location and the quiet farm setting
Kayreen
Tawny Cottage is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a break away. Its located on a farm with other individual cottages of different sizes and styles. For us the only down side was the very steep steps to enter the property. Its convenient for many locations in the surrounding area and nice to return and relax in the hot tub in the evening.
Beautiful location, spotlessly clean, lovely and quiet and a great place to bring your dog, Only small negative's, if you can call it a negative, was TV downstairs wasn't user friendly and internet code didn't work, these didn't bother us in anyway as it was a short stay. Overall a great place and highly recommended.
Kimberley
Really lovely, perfect location we loved it! We will be back! The owners were so accommodating and delivered fresh eggs to our door from their own chickens. We will definitely be back!
What an amazing 3 night stay me my partner and our dog had at this cottage. It was the perfect location and not to far a drive from Whitby, Bridlington, Filey beaches etc. The hot tub was unreal too and perfect way to relax!
Sophie
Lovely visit to tawny cottage, will definitely recommend and we will be back. Lovely little mid week retreat. Thanks for having us!
Nichola

Fantastic location to explore the North Yorkshire coastline. Great enclosed patios for the dog and hot tub was such a treat! Situated on a lovely farm in a rural area, modern cottage and perfect get away. Would 1010 recommend and stay again.
Lindsey

Had a fantastic week at Tawny Cottage , It was clean and comfortable, perfect location for getting away from it all , but easy to get to surrounding beaches , the other three cottages also look fantastic, we would definitely recommend staying there
Tracey
Perfect little cottage, ideal if you are interested in walking, we had some lovely walks then finished off with a relax in the hot tub, and a cosy night in sat by the the log burner absolutely perfect.
We had such a lovely weekend at Tawny Cottage, if you're looking for a little escape to unwind, this is your place. We took our 18 month little boy and dog and had a great time! Plenty of room for us all and very cosy, the cottage was very well equipped with everything you needed. The owners had a few niggles with the boiler but were so helpful and gave us extra logs for the fire, which as soon as it got going heated the whole cottage it was bliss, they couldn't have done enough to help. We had a Christmas tree too, so after a windy walk along the beach, coming back to the fire and a few Christmas films on Netflix was just perfect Smart TV. My little boy enjoyed seeing the fish and the other animals, the owners were so friendly and happy to chat and even brought round some fizz and chocolates. It was a lot more private than I thought it would be, you're not overlooked by any of the other cottages when you're in the hot tub which was great. All the cottages have been done to a very high spec, it was spotless and very clean. A 10 minute drive to Scarborough, 30 minutes to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay, the location was ideal, we'll definitely be back in the new year. Thank you for a lovely weekend!
A fantastic cottage in a superb location for exploring the areas around Scarborough and Whitby. The cottage is superbly decorated and well equipped with every last detail considered. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fabulous place to stay , very cosy on cold nights with the fire , hot tub is fantastic, very peaceful location. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be returning very soon
Charlotte
Me and my partner stayed in the Tawny Cottage and it was very beautifully decorated and super cosy! We absolutely loved our stay and the area around us, waking up to the view of the country side, horses and sheep was wonderful! We loved the little touches like been able to relax after been in the hot tub to watch a film on Netflix! The location was perfect for visiting places such as Whitby, Goathland and Dalby Forest. The only downfall with our stay was the plot next door to the cottages is currently under construction which was very loud, this wasn't too bad with us having day trips out by the time we was back to the cottage the workmen had finished for the day and if other cottages have guests visitingstaying over this was causing a little bit of hassle with parking which we didn't think was fair as we was paying customers we should be able to park when returning for the night! Other then issues which was nothing to do with the hosts the stay was lovely and the hosts was wonderful, so lovely to chat to and very helpful! We would love to return in the future and maybe stay in another cottagelodge!

Wow wow wow wow me and my partner had an amazing time at this cottage, hot tub hot tub hot tub is all i can say, we was in that every night and some days, the cottage was amazing lovely views, amazing facilities, the hosts were lovely and very helpful esp when we ordered a take away and the lady host helped the driver found where we was, villages around the cottage was amazing we had such an amazing time and max our lab dog enjoyed it very much
Beautiful cottage and very clean. We stayed over the new year and the hosts even brought over a bottle of bubbly for new years eve. The cottage had a Christmas tree and facilities to get the fire going on our arrival. Hot tub was amazing but the peace and quiet in such lovely surroundings made this the perfect break. We would not hesitate to return and have told all our friends about this lovely hideaway.
Hannah
An absolutely amazing stay here! ! Stayed with my partner for 7 nights purely for a relaxing break away and thats definitely how it stayed!! The people that run this place are so helpful and so so lovely I couldnt recommend this cottage enough! Only a few miles away from the town centre too! Will definitely be returning
We had an amazing time in Tawny Cottage, its beautifully decorated, very clean and the facilities are excellent. Great information given about the surroundings on arrival. A lovely hot tub to relax in and the hosts seem happy to help should you need anything. Only one note for dog walkers a lot of the surrounding areas are private land, took me about half an hour of walking along country roads to find somewhere I could let my dog off the leader for a run about, but the countryside surrounding the cottage is lovely. If youre taking very young children pack a harness or sling as immediate walks arent pushchair friendly. Some lovely places to take children a short drive away, Sealife centre, a farm, lovely beaches, soft plays it really does have everything! I would highly recommend staying here and we will be visiting again!
Pauline
We had a brilliant 4night break. The cottage was lovely and the views were fantastic. The hot tub was a great bonus. The hosts were very friendly and helpful if required. We went for a relaxing break and that was what we got.
A lovely setting and the cottage was amazing, especially the Hot Tub! !! Nick and Steph were very accommodating, nothing was too much even when our car needed to go into the garage they were willing to pick us up from Filey!!! On arrival to the cottage there was milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar and some lovely biscuits. Would definitely recommend

Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 1 Mile
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP

If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS

Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW

Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
