Braegarth Reviews

James
The cottage is lovely and perfectly placed for exploring the Lakes, especially near the charming village of Elterwater.
Emma
Braegarth is such a lovely spot, honestly. The garden is just gorgeous and perfect for relaxing. The house itself was super clean and cosy, with comfy beds and furnishings. We loved how close it was to loads of great walks and hikes. Walking into Elterwater village or along the river to Chapel Stile was so easy and scenic. We'd definitely come back!
Oliver
We loved the location right in the heart of the Lake District-it's perfect for walking straight from the doorstep. The view at the front is stunning, with the garden sloping up and trees at the back, which makes for a peaceful backdrop. The huge garden was fun to explore, although quite on a slopeand we barely saw the gardener all day! Just next door, about 30 seconds walk, there's a lovely place to eat that serves cocktails, takeawaysand has an indoor dining area. We didn't experience any noise from there during our stay, which was great. We also took advantage of the free swimming pool and spa membership daily; it's just a couple of minutes' drive away. Walking is possible, but not ideal with kids because of the narrow road and no pavement. Overall, a fantastic spot for exploring and relaxing!
Lucy
This place is lovelyand the location is just perfect. We keep coming back again and again.
Emily
We had another lovely stay at Braegarth! The views are simply stunningand the garden is perfect for kids to explore. The house itself is really cosy and well-equipped. Having access to the table tennis and swimming pool was a lifesaver during the rainy weather. Hide and seek in the garden made it even more special. We'll definitely return!
James
Really enjoyed our stay again, the location and place were just spot on!
Jamie
We stayed at Braegarth recently and honestly, it's a lovely spot. The house felt so welcoming and cosy, with stunning views straight from the windows. The garden is really pretty and perfect for kids who love a bit of adventure - they had a great time exploring. Inside, everything was finished to a high standard and super clean, which was appreciated. It's great that there are so many walks right from the doorstep, from simple strolls to more challenging hikes. Once you arrive, you really won't need your car, as there's a local shop and good pubs nearby. Would definitely recommend for a memorable trip in the Langdale area!
Sam
Stunning views and cosy, luxurious feel!
Emma
What a lovely little spot! Plenty to see and do nearby-beautiful walks, a friendly pub, a village shopand cosy cafe. Perfect if you love being close to nature, we really enjoyed it!
Emily
We had such a lovely time at Braegarth! The gardens truly stood out - so lush and beautifully maintained, perfect for wandering or just soaking up the views and spotting wildlife. It was pretty unique to have two streams and a waterfall right in the garden, definitely a highlight for us! The house itself is spacious and well-stocked, with stunning vistas from every window. The beds were comfyand the modern bathrooms added a nice touch. Plus, the free access to the pool and gym at Langdale Hotel was a bonus. The chilled cava waiting for us on arrival was a nice touch too. All in all, a fantastic week in this gorgeous part of the Lake District!
Emma
We loved the house's superb location - perfect for morning walks right from the door. The garden is stunningand it's handy to nearby pubs. Beds were comfy and everything inside was well thought out. Great stay!

We visited the same week last year and experienced totally different weather - snow, floods, sunshine - yet our break was still fantastic. The cottage was just as lovely as beforeand we really enjoyed the Champagne, thanks! The log burner was perfect, especially with the snow outside. We'd love this to become our yearly getaway since we have such fond memories here. Thanks for sharing this special place with us!
Emily Roberts
We really enjoyed our time here! The beds were super comfyand we slept like logs. The garden's huge and perfect for hide and seek - we loved spotting rabbits and pheasants around. The last night a storm blew the gates openand in the morning, we found two sheep wandering into the garden! Overall, it was a fantastic stay, definitely would come back again!

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 7 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 8 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 13 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 22 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 26 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 28 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
