Turret Cottage at Hanlith Hall Reviews

Emma
When we first came across the property online, we were quite taken with the stunning location and charming exterior. In person, it didn't disappoint - it's spotless, with fresh linen and tidy bathrooms. That said, once you start looking past the surface, some practical issues crop up. The place claims to sleep six, but the ensuites are tiny and pretty tricky to move around in. The kitchen isn't really up to hosting six people either; only three coffee cups, for example. Plus, it needs some TLC - the doors and drawers don't quite fitand there's no blinds on the kitchen windows, so the cottage next door can easily see in. Overall, it's a lovely spot, but a few tweaks wouldn't hurt!
Emma
The mattress was surprisingly thinand we could feel the slats through it, which wasn't great. The dining chairs were quite uncomfortableand the sofa sat very low, making it hard to relax properly. When it rained, water flooded onto the porch, soaking our shoes. The bathrooms were tinyand the fittings made it tricky to use without contorting ourselves. Not the best experience, honestly.
Emma
Honestly, we picked this place mainly for its spot near Malham and the Pennine Wayand it didn't disappoint on that front. The living spaces are surprisingly spaciousand having two bedrooms was a real bonus for us. The place was spotlessly clean too, which is always appreciated. That said, there were a few niggles. The bathrooms are quite small and a bit of a let-down - the shower door was held on with silicone and then fell off, which was a bit of a shockand the drains smelled a bit funky. Also, the TVs in the bedrooms weren't working, which was a shame. The outdoor layout isn't great for privacy; the hot tub's just a few feet from the neighbours' and if they're in theirs, it kind of spoils the vibe, especially if they're loud or having a good time. We decided to cut our stay a day shortand the owner offered a partial refund, but we never saw it and he's stopped replying to messages about it. Overall, it's a decent place with some flaws, but we probably wouldn't stay again.

Very efficient and appreciated

We loved the stunning views and the peaceful setting - perfect for walks and soaking in nature. But be aware, it's quite remote, so a car's pretty much essential, especially since the roads are often single track with passing places. The place itself felt a bit tight for five adults; the layout of the three bathrooms left a lot to be desired, with one tiny shower and a confusing setup in the main bathroom. Small touches like extra bins and mirrors in the bedrooms would've made things easier. The kitchen was fully stocked and handy, but we did have a few mishaps - the microwave blew upand the electricity kept tripping, which was a bit frustrating, especially since we couldn't find the fuse box at first. We left a note in the info folder for future guests about that. Overall, it's a lovely spot, but some improvements would really help. Still, we enjoyed our stay!

The cottage was charming and in a fantastic spot. We loved exploring the hill and the local pub was a real highlight - definitely recommend visiting there!
