Bowness-on-Windermere is where you'll find three Michelin-starred restaurants, perfect for the foodies in your group.
In addition to the Armitt Library and Museum Centre and the stunning Stock Ghyll Force, Ambleside also features a fascinating 2nd-century Fort, or you can venture further to Grasmere, where you can wander around the former home of the great poet, William Wordsworth. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.
