While the night away outdoors, dining alfresco and socialising, as the wine is poured and conversations flow, before climbing into the hot tub for an indulgent soak. Two well-appointed bedrooms are on offer, a double and a twin, both serviced by a shower room.

On your doorstep you'll find a selection of shops, pubs and eateries to take advantage of, along with the Penrith and Eden Museum, Penrith Castle, and Thacka Beck Nature Reserve, all worth visiting whilst in the area. History buffs will also enjoy touring Brougham Castle and Mayburgh Henge, both within proximity of the lodge, before heading into the national park, aiming for Keswick; enjoy touring Keswick Museum and the Derwent Pencil Museum, take to Derwentwater for an afternoon of watersports, or don your walking boots for a hike up to Underskiddaw.

With a wealth of beauty spots to discover, be sure to take in the breath-taking landscape of Aira Force Waterfall, set near Ullswater, or if you're a fan of city life, wine, dine, shop and sightsee in Carlisle, recommended to tour both Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral. The Hermitage Reviews

Lovely stay in the Hermitage. Everything was exactly as described and the owners were very helpful. Great place to relax. Thank you for having us.
Firstly when you find the place, what can only be described as offload is the only entrance in or out so be aware if you have a low car or low profile tyres. When we got there the lodge is in garden next to a wall with residential homes directly over the wall. Inside us big enough 2 bedrooms are decent sizes. I didn't feel the place was clean enough windows are filthy with old bird poo crust in. Bathroom fan is extremely loud , the toilet seat is loose and no lock on the door. Unfortunately when we finished ironing one day the socket came straight out the wall this caused a mild shock. Another safety concern was the ramp access, this has very slim anti slip strips that have expired and when wet is very dangerous. And finally got charged 150 for paw prints and what looked like a stain spilled tea? Could have been there already.. I wouldn't recommend taking a dog for this reason and also very dangerous access road . Never stayed the full 4 nights left a day early. Very very disappointing especially after saving and now 160 taken straight off a card and into overdraft. Worse holiday ever
Lovely place to stay the owners thought of everything guests would need. Wine milk & biscuits on arrival was a lovely gesture. Owner contacted to check all was ok which was really nice. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic stay with very helpful hosts. They contacted us on check in day to tell us early check in was available, and communication was excellent. Lovely cottage that the family and our dog loved. Close to Ulswater, perfect location to explore the lakes.

Absolutely recommended lodge nice quite outway relaxing. .. Host Absolutely marvellous.. All amenities just stone throw away.. Have to try jacuzzi it's dream..
Due to the wet weather non of the decking had been swept. The carpet was very marked in the dining and living area, ideally needs replacing.
