Terrific location, very quiet, walks and cycle tracks from the door but within easy reach to the whole of the lakes. An Excellent property to thank whole family on my Retirement so wanted something 'special' which this lived up to fully, with very little found wanting. All facilities used to the full including hot tub modern kitchen as we ate in most days but also did eat at Cuckoo Brow Inn a short walk away on a couple of nights, which we would also recommend. Host did provide a 'Meet and greet' on our Arrival, which was most welcome and overall would highly recommend especially for a special occasion Great views towards Windermere to front and Coniston Falls to rear giving instant 'weather update' We did benefit from great weather most of the week we were there, but accommodation would suit any weather. Property very pieceful whcih was ideal Windermere area OK but the quiet was just what we were after and little traffic even though close to Ferry road Close to Hill Top and other attractions with many 'Walk' options also nearby

The house was really lovely and comfortable, a d a great base for exploring a part of the Lakes we didn't know well..As we planned to cook a lot we appreciated the wellappointed kitchen and contents. Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years. There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk. For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families. Corporate groups are also well catered for.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

about 13 Miles

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction. With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money. There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

about 15 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
