Cliff House Reviews

Property was spotless and well equipped beds were very comfortable The only negative was on a main road so traffic noise if bedroom window open. Very secure area for dog and would definitely stay again. Ideal location for local beaches.

Cliff House is a beautiful cottage, it is cosy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, hot tub is fantastic. It is noisy due to being on the main road of Loftus, so if you like it quiet then this may not be for you. Some areas of the house could have been cleaner, such as drawers, bottom if wardrobe, was a stain on the upstairs window frame, but generally on the whole was a good standard. Cliff house is a great base to explore, close to the North Yorshire National Park, approx 1 hour from Flamingoland, half an hour from Whitby and close to some gorgeous beaches, definetly recommend!!

Cliff house should not be listed as a holiday let. Loftus itself is run down and just rows and rows of terraced houses. Unwelcoming run down pubs. The TVs downstairs continually lost connection and were very very slow. Cleaners didnt turn up the 2nd weekend and when we contacted them they apologised and said it was due to staff shortages, we contacted the owner who again apologised but offered no refund for the service we had paid for. Not the cleanest of properties of which we informed the owner, with photos attached, but their reply was quite blaze. Back yard untidy and scruffy, chipped floor tiles in bathroom, disgusting blockage of hair and scum down bath plug hole. The only nice part of Loftus is Skinningrove beach.

Our Cliff House review: Fantastic place to stay . A bit disappointed that Hot tub wasnt filled and had to wait for it to heat up . But the owner was apologetic and promptly sorted it . Lovely house and facilities. Lovely walk down to the sea and amazing beech . Thank you perfect
Cliff House was very nice & welcoming. The kitchen was very well equipped, however rather than a Dishwasher we felt a Washing Machine & washing line in the garden are a must & this addition should maybe looked into as this would make it perfect. Generally the house was very clean, however more attention to detail needs to be made to bedding as in bunk beds there were small black hairs on the inside sheets, and the person staying in that room actually refused to sleep inside the bed, we tried calling the point of contact number during our stay several times to report this but each time no answer. Hot Tub was very nice & relaxing. The only thing that spoilt our holiday is a couple of days before leaving we noticed the back garden was soaking wet & there was raw sewerage coming up from the manhole cover, this was obv a big health & safety concern and especially worrying as our young dog had been out there when we discovered the problem & we then worried we might have a poorly dog who needed Veterinary attention. Again we tried several times to contact the phone no. on point of contact & also the owners mobile no. to report this ASAP. All to no avail so had to contact Sykes Holiday Cottages who I have to say did get hold of the owner who then gave permission for them to contact Drain company who came out to attend later that day, obv this interfered with our days plans as although we left back gate unlocked for access the Drain company called me direct for some reason as seemed to be under the impression I was the owner of the property. He did tell us that he had attended the property a couple of times before for the same problem & that the owner had previously tried to unblock the Drain himself as they found pieces of rope in the Drain system, so obv there is a problem which needs sorting properly ASAP. The same Drain company woke me up early with a phone call to my mobile 4 days after our return home today telling me they had found a big blockage at MY property, once again I relayed that it is a Holiday Let House & I am not the owner!! Whilst we appreciate that problems can occur it was clearly evident by what the Drain guy told us that this is an ongoing problem and the House should not be let out to ppl until this is fully resolved.
Cliff house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The hot tub was a lovely addition. Although on a main road it is perfectly placed for exploring Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn and Runswick all of which are stunning and within 20 minutes drive. Can recommend Runswick beach in particular. Tomahawk restaurant at Saltburn which has a lovely balcony overlooking the sea and fabulous cocktails we caught a taxi. Also fish and chips on Saltburn beach from the sea view restaurant. One little improvement could do with a washing line and a curtain on the landing window. Fabulous stay. Would recommend.
