We had a fantastic stay at Oaklea Cottage! The location is ideal for exploring both the local area and further afield, with plenty of amenities in Sedgefield. Judith was such a thoughtful host, greeting us with a lovely welcome pack and keeping in touch during the week with helpful tips. The cottage itself was super comfyand the private garden was perfect for soaking up the sun. Thanks so much, Judith, for making our holiday special! We’d definitely come back.
Emma
We had a lovely stay at the cottage! It’s really spacious and super clean, which we appreciated. The countryside views from the back are stunning and definitely a highlight. The beds and sofas were comfyand the shower worked a treat. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of crockery, so no complaints there. The only downside was the main TV’s reception - it kept cutting out and wasn’t great for music. Still, the location is perfect for exploring the village and nearby amenities. Overall, we’d come back!

We've been coming back to Oaklea for the third time nowand it never disappoints. The place is super comfy and perfect for exploring, whether by car or just on foot. We loved Saltburn and Redcarand enjoyed a walk around Hardwick Hall. The Pickled Parson in Sedgefield is a great spot for dog-friendly meals!

The hot tub was straightforward to useand Judith was super helpful with lots of info and quick contact. Our dogs loved the enclosed gardenand there are plenty of walks nearby. Pickle the parson is very dog-friendly and adds to the great vibe. We also enjoyed the Indian restaurant, LRead moree Raaj, which is a must-visitand the little Sicily at Black Lion for fab food and cocktails. The cakes and breakfast at No 4 Teashop Hide are spot on too!

We had an amazing time staying here for our honeymoon! The location is perfect, just a quick 4-minute walk to quirky cafes, shopsand pubs. Hardwick's only a few minutes away too. Judith, the owner, was super helpful and gave us great tips about the area. The cottage itself was spacious, spotlessand really cosy - loved the private hot tub, already lit for us. It felt so homely, we’d move in tomorrow if we could! We’ll definitely be back.

The beds are super comfyand there's plenty of space for our family. We know the area well, with lots to do nearby. The location is great for exploring the north eastand we definitely recommend visiting Beamish - it’s a must! We’ll be back.

We had a lovely stay! Judith greeted us warmly and explained everything clearly, which was much better than reading confusing instructions. The flowers and fruit bowl on arrival were such a nice touch. The location is perfect-peaceful but close to a charming village with shops, pubsand takeaways just a short walk away. The big Sainsbury’s is only a quick drive. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for relaxing. The beds were super comfy with crisp white linen. We’ll definitely be coming back!
