Outside there are patio areas at both the front and rear, whilst just across the parking area is a lawned garden with views across the fields. Here you can watch the local wildlife including deer and birds, and if you're lucky you may catch sight of the barn owl.

Ulverston has a host of shops, restaurants, an indoor market. Explore the southern tip of Coniston Water and the east of the Lake passing through Nibthwaite catching glimpses of “Wild Cat Island", Peel Island as featured in Swallows and Amazons.

There are lots of places to park up and wander through the woods and along the shore. Further up is Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin, where you can enjoy the landscaped gardens with views across to the Coniston Fells and a tasty afternoon tea in their tearoom.

On the other side of Coniston Water you can hire kayaks and rowing boats and even participate on sailing courses and stand up paddle boarding. Grizedale Forest is also close by with lots of tracks and trails to explore, both on foot or on a bike, whilst there is also Go Ape for the more adventurous.

Green Hills Farm Reviews

Excellent facilities and location. Nice walks nearby and short drive away. The property is spacious, clean, comfortable and well put together. There was 8 of us and we never felt cramped. The hot tub was awesome, really nice after a good walk to the canal and backnice pub at the canal The John Barrows monument is well worth the visit for the views. So is Ullswater, with nice pubs and shops. Steve was a great host. Welcomed us and gave the lay of the land and information about the property. Was at hand if needed and had great communicstiom. But otherwise left us to it. Would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely time staying over Christmas. Nothing was too much trouble and the cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped. In a beautiful setting and the hot tub was lovely. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend a stay here.
Beautiful cottage . We went for a family getaway in the middle of Christmas and new year and enjoyed every minute. Would definitely recommend.

The property although lovely could do with new flooring in the bedroom near the bathroom, there were a lot of stains on the carpet. The kitchen had tiles coming off at the back of the cooker and the kick boards were worn in places. There were what appeared to be squashed bugs on some ceilings and walls. In general just a bit run down. Having said that the hot tub was kept clean, oven immaculate as were beds and bathrooms.

The hosts were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend staying, we will be back.

Our Green Hills Farm review: Owners were very friendly and made us very welcome. We had everything we needed for a relaxing week. Very good for exploring the lakes. Lovely and quiet location, wouldnt think you were on a working farm.

Plenty of dishes and items to cook a family meal with. Hot tub was maintained throughout our stay, having been drained and refilled before we arrived and we witnessed it being drained and refilling process started as we left. Steve ensured we had settled in OK and was on hand for local knowledge questions. We didn't get to do all the things locally due to weather but look forward to returning.
We loved Sykes cottage, it was very roomy, clean and comfortable, particularly the beds which were amazing. The views from our hot tub were fab and everything worked, although the streaming part of the TV didnt want to play, but we had our devices for TV catchup, so it didnt really bother us. Steve was a great host and very helpful and answered any queries we had very quickly. The overall setup and location of the cottage really suited us and we would love to come back again.
Lovely cottage , great location

We had a lovely week with our family at Green Hills Farm. It is a lovely property however could do with a little spruce up to make it great ! We all really enjoyed the hot tub however the patio area could have done with being tidied up as there were a lot of weeds. A blast with a power washer and some colourful flower pots would make such a difference. The property is very comfortable and wouldn't take much to make it excellent. Ulverston is a lovely little market town with cobbled streets and great shops pubs. Our son's dog Rollo had a great time and we were able to take him in everywhere we visited. Amazing scenery surrounding the property and great walks. We would definitely recommend this property. We would definitely recomme
