Striding Edge Lodge Reviews

Lovely place, welcoming as so peaceful! Hot tub was a bonus! We will come back Kind Regards Lisa
Perfect for exploring the lakes. Great to be able to walk straight from the front door. Warm comfortable and well equipped. The hot tub is an added bonus. Clean and wonderfully warm. We really appreciated the Christmas touches. Having booked 8 months earlier it was very helpful to hear from lodge holidays in the build up to the trip with advice, suggestions and information. Understandable but a shame the Pub was not open during our stay. Thank you for a lovely week.
Beyond expectations from the pictures. Views were amazing and everything needed was included. Only thing that detracted from being perfect was the outside of the lodge is in need of aTLC and the deck needs a good jetwash from being under the trees all year

Another fabulous week at Striding Edge! Literally the only thing we would change is the mattress in the master bedroom entirely personal preference but it's too soft for hubby's back & he wakes up in some considerable discomfort every day the hot tub & gorgeous area certainly helps, but it would be nice for him to get up easily & we'll rested every day! Other than that we absolutely love the lodge & have now had two wonderful holidays there x

Lovely place to stay and fantastic location. The bed was very comfortable, what brand is the mattress? However, it was very concerning when someone just walked on to the property, up to the hot tub, with no prewarning or indication of what they were doing at 10am. Was there for about 2 minutes and went off again. Really not happy with this.
Our Striding Edge Lodge review: The lodge was lovely and very clean hot tub use was awesome which worked perfectly all stay. Beds were comfortable had all amenities you need, only downfall was that couldn't get the WIFI to work . Beautiful place to stay and scenery is out of this world and i would highly recomend to friends and family..
Coming back, we had a great week, site and staff top draw, area speaks for its self. The site however was on another level, hot tub was used come rain or shine, accommodation was spotless and had everything you needed.

First class accommodation and site, could not fault the lodge at all, and had everything you could possibly want. It was clean, tidy, warm and in a great location. The hot tub was a lovely added bonus. Good location for accessing all the local amenities.

The lodge was very comfortable and catered for all our needs. The only downside to our stay was that the boiler stopped working on the second night, which meant that there was no hot water. This spoilt our experience as we couldnt shower after using the hot tub. This prevented us from using the hot tub. Also the central heating didnt work. Maintenance were able to fix the boiler in the morning. So we had a whole evening and night without hot water or heatings. However once it was fixed we felt that the lodge continued to struggle to heat up. The hoover wasnt working, and it would benefit other lodgers if there was a mop and bucket on site to use after being in the hot tub and in the shower area.
I read other reviews before we stayed and generally what I read is true. It's a nice lodge, good spot on the park, it's snug, the beds are comfy, the facilities in the lodge and on the site are decent and we enjoyed our stay. There were no functional issues with anything at all in terms of the lodge, everything was fine. But....it suffers from a lack of personal touch and is showing signs of age and some of the stuff could easily be sorted. Little things like the hot tub buttons have worn away so you can't see which button does what. We only figured out there was a light under water on the last day. The decking furniture is going rusty, seat pads are like super thin. Easily sorted things! The outside fencing and flooring is starting to go rotten in places too, particularly the gate and the decking around the hot tub. And the actual lodge external walls have had paint layered on top of paint to cover where it's blistered which makes it look a bit of a mess. Not big deals and none of it affected our holiday at all but when you've paid over 1k for a week you want a little bit of luxury and I didn't feel like it had that. Some of the kitchen utensils in the drawers were dirty and there were some dirty pots in the dishwater too when we arrived. That's no fault of the owners, it's entirely down to the previous guest who was too lazy to clean them. But again, it's not what you want. Maybe it's to be expected when a 3rd party company is managing things. They'll be using minimum wage cleaners who've got 10 lodges to clean in 2 hours so all you get is a superficial cat lick. I can put up with that when I book a Sun 9.50 a day break at a Haven Park in Scarborough but not when you're on a 5 luxury establishment. Things like a dirty sponge scourer and a plastic food label left on the decking. Just silly careless stuff! I saw the owners responded to a similar review by saying they stay regularly and they take a pride in it. I have sympathy with them. I can't imagine the costs of maintaining a lodge on a park like Limefitt and the last thing you want to do when you visit yourself is spend all your time painting and decorating but it really needs a spruce up. It probably reads like I wouldn't recommend this lodge but I would. It's in a great spot and we did have a good time. It just needs a bit of TLC. That's all! It wouldn't take much to make it perfect. Just a word about the site. There's a lovely BarRestaurant but they kept closing early because they said it was quiet. Even Saturday night they called time at 9pm which was frustrating. That's really bad, short term thinking. We just didn't bother going in after the 4th night because of it so they've pretty much done themselves over there! Self fulfilling prophecy. How do you expect to be busy if you keep randomly closing early?
