Meadow Syke Byre Reviews

Raymond
Perfect stay. We had a lovely relaxing time, everything we needed for ourselves and our cocker spaniel. The property was beautiful, modern and very clean. The amazingly large bed was so comfortable, fab shower and bathroom too. The hot tub was great where you could enjoy the peace, tranquility and stunning views. An added bonus was watching the red squirrels at the feeder! Ruth made us feel so welcome and was very helpful. We would love to come back!
Property was nice and clean on arrival, we had everything we needed ready for our one year old cot, highchair and we had a lovely time, our host Ruth was very accommodating and there are plenty of restaurants close by. My partner enjoyed the hot tub it was a highlight of our stay and the gorgeous views made it a great holiday!
Had a wonderful stay , lovely & clean , modern decor, everything you needed, ... Had a wonderful stay , lovely & clean , modern decor, everything you needed, very comfortable, loved the hot tub , would definitely like to come back
Outstanding Property! Everything you need, spotlessly clean and well set out. Beautifully presented. A real haven. This was our second visit and Im sure we will return for a third!
What an amazing place. Nestled in the country but only about 8 miles from Penrith for all your shopping needs etc. The cottage is lovely, with bifold doors enabling the space to feel much bigger when the weather allows. Ruth couldn't have been more accommodating, being on hand for local recommendations and answering any questions we had. We would definately recommend this place and will probably visit again in the future.
Amazing property, was everything we needed. Ruth was great and helped us when we arrived. Good location with loads of things to do.
Kieran
Lovely property. Loved the tree creepers and red squirrels especially. Could consider adding landline phone for requesting a taxi mobile phone signal unreliable. Stunning views and warm hospitality. Would book again.
The best cottage we have stayed at. Amazing location, great facilities, very clean. Perfect space for the dog. Very warm welcome from ruth. Totally recommend to anyone.
Beautiful property in lovely location and Ruth couldn't have been more helpful. 10 out of 10. We will be back. Thank you Ruth. We made a couple of very minor suggestions but these did not detract in any way from our stay.
Absolutely perfect stay. The setting was beautiful and Ruth made us feel very welcome with loads of little extra touches around the byre. The hot tub was perfect watching the stars on a night and the red squirrel playing on a morning. Bampton the local town was lovely and again the locals were very friendly. We were sad to leave. This place is definitely a hidden gem and we cant wait to return
Nicola
Fantastic stay for New Year and my husbands birthday, a beautiful property, loved the personal touches like the body lotion and the Prosecco and mince pies. The bed was extremely comfy and the whole property was perfect, was sad to leave.
What a stunning barn conversion! Set amongst numerous acres of farmland, hot tub in the garden50 extra as described very well appointed, great bed & ensuite. Took our two Labradors who loved having free reign for us to walk them around the farmland no livestock on them Great laundry & dog washing facilities in close by barn with lots of dog towels to use. Loved spending Christmas week here, only downside was the link doorway to allow bigger parties to be joined in both adjoining barns allows all the conversation & noise through even though it was locked during our stay felt like we were in same room as their kids! Owners are looking at this issue we were told! Otherwise perfect! Stunning views, quiet & sooo dark it was unbelievable. Great base right on the edge of the lakes.
The welcome we had was wonderful and the cottage was so cosy and homely. The hot tub was also wonderful. Definitely recommend.
A lovely place to stay, very well kept and Ruth was very accommodating. I didnt read the whole listing properly and was taken aback a bit when I found out there was an extra charge if you want to use the hot tub. Personally I think that should be included in the total price. The surrounding field is perfect to let the dog roam on its own as its fenced. Theres plenty walks to go on if you wish. If you want to get a meal at the local pub then book it well in advance as its the only one within walking distance. Ruth provided a pint of milk and a bottle of wine on arrival as well as tea & coffee, biscuits. And some doggy treats. A fully stocked kitchen with all working appliances and pots and pans, glassware you name it, Even a dishwasher with tabs. Board games, playing cards and books are also inside. Theres a handy utility room with a dog wash to the side thats a lifesaver. The fact it is adjoining to the barn meant that when our neighbours got up from the table and moved their chairs they scraped them across the floor which happened frequently and disturbed our peace. They had children too that added to it and a dog that randomly barked. You can hear everything next door. All in all it was a great place to stay. I would definitely recommend and I would go back again. 4.5 5
Lovely cottages really enjoyed our stay
We had a fantastic weekend here at Meadow Syke Byre complete with hot tub in the most stunning, peaceful location. The property itself is immaculately clean, cosy and warm and there is nothing we were short off. It was so safe for our dogs and no gaps in the fences that we needed to worry about. Ruth the owner was very friendly and helpful. Wine and biscuits on arrival too
This Byre is stunning and Ruth the host couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. We would rate this 12 out of 10 for cleanliness and equipment views and the hot tub were a very fab addition watching the sunrise from the property in the hot tub was superb
The place was absolutely outstanding! Not one fault! Lovely and clean and exactly what we needed! Wish we had longer! The views were outstanding! Easy to find and a lovely welcome! Would highly recommended to anyone and we will be back!
Andrew
An absolutely stunning place, the level of quality on fixtures and fittings is high end. The cleanliness was excellent, with all accessories required available. The welcome from Ruth the owner was second to non. The cottage itself is set in lovely working farmland, and the views are wonderful, especially when viewed sat in the hot tub! One highlight worthy of a mention, is the visiting Red SquirrelSquirrels, a brilliant experience. This holiday cottage is high on our agenda, to visit again. We really didn't want to leave! Highly recommended.
Fantastic week away The property was lovely and clean The host was polite and friendly and came everyday to clean the hot tub She was always available when you needed her Couldnt recommend this place enough!
We absolutely loved our stay here for our first weekend away together! Ruth was an amazing host and was so helpful and understanding when we were running very late due to our car breaking down on the motorway from Leeds! The property itself is absolutely beautiful and Ruth has thought of everything to make it feel like home! The towel Swans on the bed were ace! The hot tub was amazing and we spent hours sat watching the stars and admiring the views. We will absolutely be booking to stay here again!
It was a truly lovely place to stay. The owner made everything really comfortable and was so helpful and welcoming. The barn was done to a beautiful standard and everything was so tasteful but with character. The hot tub was a pleasure from where you looked out at fantastic views. A peaceful location away from it all.
Thankyou for such an amazing stay. Your cottage is second to none. So peaceful but close to the local pub if needed for beautiful food and refreshments. Hot tub is tranquil, just sitting watching the views and red squirrel in the tree. The super king bed is a luxury and the large walk in shower is amazing. The cottage is spotlessly clean and modern with everything you need and more with local walks from the doorstep. Very dog friendly with secure dog fields all around and even a doggy barn with dog shower and towels for after your muddy walks. Also in the barn is washing machine and dryer if needed. Ruth the host is a lovely friendly, helpful lady whom is a phone all away if needed. We wouldnt hesitate to return to this beautiful place which is central for your visits around the lakes. Thankyou so much, we will be back x
Accommodation absolutely first class there is everything you could need. Absolutely spotlessly clean. Very welcoming host.
Absolutely exquisite! A superb base from which to explore the Lake District. Extremely comfortable and in a rural location which was as peaceful as it is beautiful. The attention to detail which Ruth has lavished on this sanctuary is second to none and to be envied by many a top end hotel.
Olivia
Absolutely stunning. Detailed to perfection. Gloriously modern yet still cosy. Bathroom is beautiful. Location, hot tub, kitchen, bathroom, bed, everything just wonderful Great price too and I would highly recommend going with a group of friends family and hiring both the cottages out so its all private. Only thing I just suggest, please put an extra gate between the two cottages. For privacy and to stop dog fights. Thank you for an amazing time
Meadow Skye Byre is truly a wonderful cottage for a quiet, relaxing break. Ruth the host is brilliant with her local knowledge and keeps the property and surrounding area immaculate. This area of The Lakes is wonderfully unspoilt and quiet, perfect to get away from it all and see the red squirrels morning and night. The cottage itself is clean, well equipped and very dog friendly the dog fields are amazing. Lovely super king bed. Views are stunning. We never go back to a property, but this cottage was so good, we're coming back next year.
We had a lovely break at Meadow Syke Barn which is well equipped and comfortable. A warm welcome from Ruth and treats for both ourselves and our dog were a nice touch and very much appreciated. The property is well situated for exploring The Lakes and is easy to find, helped by good directions from Ruth. The peace and tranquillity of the surroundings together with glorious weather were exactly what we needed and we would definitely stay again.

We have just left after spending a week in this cottage and loved it so much we are going to rebook as soon as we get home! Ruth is an amazing host and met us at the property after a very long drive. She showed us around the property and also kept us up to date during our stay when there was a power cut, which was appreciated. The cottage is just beautiful and perfect. The attention to detail during the renovation of the barn is spot on. The cottage itself is spotless, and has all the amenities that you need. The bed was so comfortable, we are going to buy the same mattress for our home! The hot tub was just what we needed after exploring the area. Our two dogs were well catered for with bowls, blankets and towels along with some welcome biscuits for them. The cottage comes with bi fold doors, which we took advantage of when the weather was nice, and it just made the property feel so much bigger. We would have liked a 3 seater sofa or a small chair in the living room as we felt the seating area was restricted, but that is just a very minor detail. I have seen a review on the bigger cottage next door, complaining about access to the property being difficult and you cannot swing your car into the access point if you approach from the left hand side. Ignore that negative review, we have a 4x4 vehicle and managed to do it every time with no issues! All in all, we loved staying here, the dogs loved it and we will be back soon!
The cottage was absolutely fantastic, we booked it for our mini moon and it didn't disappoint. The hot tub was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable and it was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We'd have liked a slightly bigger sofa to sit and watch TV but that's the only slightly negative point. We'd 100 book again
Sheena

Really enjoyed our stay the cottage was very comfortable and Ruth was so helpful, the hot tub was a bonus at the end of long walks really dog friendly macy our whippet loved it, the local pub was really nice and friendly, would definitely stay again
Fantastic property, fantastic location, fantastic host. Everything was perfect for us and the dog washing facility was greatly appreciated at the end of a very muddy 8 hour hike. Ruth was a lovely host and nothing seemed too much trouble, coming to our rescue to help us get to a 50th birthday meal. The location was ideal to get out and explore the hills and the barn was a great place to relax at the end of a hike. The hot tub was nice and hot even on a cold rainy evening. Also the bed was so comfy, we almost took it back home with us. Thank you again for a memorably stay. I wouldnt to have wanted to celebrate my birthday anywhere else.
Monica
Excellent accommodation, warm, cosy and perfect for our needs. The hot tub was an added bonus. Great area to explore the quieter areas of the Lake District. Ruth the owner was very helpful
Bethany
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The lovely warm welcome from Ruth was much appreciated. The barn was spotless, and had everything you could think of. We had our very large cane corso with us who we sometimes worry about travelling with due to his size, but Ruth was really good with him. The treats, extra bowls, towels and throws were great. The enclosed field straight outside the barn was amazing for him to run around on inbetween adventures! The hot tub was amazing and Ruth came everyday to check it which was great and really appreciated. The bed was sooo comfy and great after a long day of walking when you were aching. Thanks again for such a perfect break. We will definitely be back
Absolutely lovely, would visit again
Lyndsey
Beautiful place with amazing views. Such a lovely host Ruth was amazing. Everything you need is in this cottage. Hot tub views are incredible and you can watch nature from the comfort of the hot tub. The dog walks are fantastic with plenty of them. The cottage even has doggy shower in next barn. We will be coming back very soon
This was our first Xmas away with the family, our parents stayed with us and my sister & hubby stayed next door at the Byre. We met Ruth on arrival and what a lovely lady, Both properties were decorated for Xmas, trees, ornaments etc which was amazing. Hot tub was great addition. The underfloor heating was a godsend. Both properties are furnished to a high standard & all mod cons. We had 3 dogs with us who were well catered for, blankets, towels & treats. If your looking to get away from the rat race and relax in comfort style this is the place to be Thanks Ruth
Olivia

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 7 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 11 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 20 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 24 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 25 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
