Apple Barn Reviews

Emma
We really enjoyed the cottage, especially the lovely hot tub which was a highlight! The location is great with plenty of nearby walks, though most start by walking down a farm track and then along a busy road, which isn't ideal. The place is well-stocked, making it comfortable for a short stay. When we visited in September, it got quite chilly in the eveningsand we struggled a bit to figure out how to turn on the heating - a proper info folder would've been handy. Still, overall, a fantastic spot in a lovely area!
Ellie
We stayed at this lovely cottage in a peaceful spot, though there are four nearby properties. The owners are friendly but not intrusiveand the welcome pack was a nice touch. The place was spotless, comfyand well kitted out, especially with three en-suites! The upstairs rooms are charming but a bit snug if you're tall. The views are stunningand the outdoor space is perfect for relaxing away from busy tourist spots. Plenty of walks around, but you'll need to drive to get to them. Definitely a great find!
Oliver
Great service, really made our day
Emma

We had a fantastic time at this charming cottage! The welcoming scones and prosecco were a lovely touch when we arrived. Everything we needed was thereand the location was perfect for visiting Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. The enclosed garden and nearby field were great for our dog. The hot tub was a real treat-spotlessly clean and well looked after. Would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic time at Apple Barn! The place was super cosy and well kitted out. The kids adored the giant draughts and the hot tub-such a bonus! Thanks to the lovely owners!
Harriet
We had a wonderful time at Apple Barn Cottage! Perfect spot for celebrating my Mum's birthday. The fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom was a real bonusand we loved the personal touches like dressing gowns and the surprise of freshly baked scones on arrival. The hot tub outside was a highlight, always warm and so relaxing after days of exploring Whitby, Robin Hood's Bayand the waterfalls at Falling Foss. The location is spot on for visiting all those iconic sightsand the leaflets in the cottage were handy for planning our days. Coming back to the cosy warmth of the cottage was the best part. Julian and Julia made us feel really welcome; they're lovely hosts. Overall, a fantastic stay with everything we needed for a memorable trip!
Sam
We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage. The location is perfect for exploring, with plenty of activities like mountain biking, horse-ridingand walking nearby. The living space is really comfy, with big sofas that made relaxing easy, especially for the dogs. The hot tub was a real highlight after a busy dayand the starry nights were unbelievable! The welcome treats were a lovely touchand we appreciated the helpful walk suggestions in the folder. Wish we had more time (and better weather) to do them all!
Sam
Lovely cottage, super cosy and spacious, perfect for a peaceful stay!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay at this cosy cottage! The location is perfect, just a short drive to Whitby and Ravenscarand a lovely 3-mile walk to Robin Hoods Bay. The place was well equipped, with each bedroom having its own bathroom - quite handy! The log burner made everything super cosy, especially with the complimentary logs and kindle. The welcome pack was a real treat, with homemade fruit cake and bubbles. The hot tub with country views was the cherry on top. Totally recommend for a relaxing holiday!
Mark

Laura
Finding the property was a breeze, right in a perfect spot for exploring. We loved relaxing in the hot tub and the cottage had everything we could want. Plus, some cracking local eateries-Fish & Chips at the Magpie in Whitby was absolutely delicious!
Emma
We had a fantastic stay at this place! The house was spotlessly clean and really well equipped, making everything so easy. The hosts were lovely and really helpful, which made us feel so welcomed. The welcome pack was a nice surprise, especially the prosecco we enjoyed in the hot tub! The enclosed patio was perfect for our escape artist hound. Definitely planning to come back - such a beautiful area!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay, but it would've helped if the listing mentioned the upstairs bedrooms needed their own staircase. Also, the double room doesn't have a door, which was a bit surprising. Still, we had a lovely time overall!
Emma
We chose this place mainly because of the hot tub, which is a big deal for us when picking a holiday spot here. When we got there, we found out it was out of order, which was a real letdown. I get that things break, but it really affected our stay since we were there for a whole week without the hot tub working. Quite disappointing, honestly.
Hannah
Really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless, with a fantastic hot tub. Perfectly situated near key sights yet peaceful. Host was super friendly and helpful! Would return.
Emma Clarke
Apple Barn was super cosy and spotless. The three ensuite bathrooms made things so easy for us. Loved the hot tub and the thoughtful extras like scones and wine on arrival. Perfect base to explore the coast. Definitely recommend it for a relaxing stay!
Emma Williams
Really loved our stay! The place was spotless and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches like bathrobes for the hot tub. The owners went above and beyond, leaving homemade scones, jamand a bottle of wine - such a lovely surprise! We felt truly spoiled.

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 5 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 7 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 7 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 8 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 11 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 21 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 28 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
